All School Assignments at a Glance
When you're an ADD – ADHD Adult student, whether full or part time, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by multiple school assignments and due dates. Being able to see your whole assignment schedule at a glance will help you feel organized and in control. A one-page visual chart is an invaluable tool to keep track of what has to be done, and when.
A good hard-copy visual aid for students is an 8 1/2″ x 11″ page that shows all the weeks in the semester. Entries can be color-coded for each class, indicating what days the classes are, when specific assignments are due and exam dates. Then you can look at the chart and immediately see what's due.
One of my ADHD Coaching clients, a student in her 40's, held a full-time job while getting her BA degree at night. With that kind of schedule, she had to make every minute count. She created a table in Word as her Semester At-a-Glance Form and used self-laminating sheets to laminate it and carry it with her at all times. That way she always knew exactly what assignments were due, which made it easy to determine how to spend her time.
NOTE for PARENTS: Parents with several children in school can use a similar one-page visual aid that's color-coded for each child. This can be used to track after-school activities for each child as well.
